Stalag Luft III POW Monument

I was commissioned to execute this bronze eagle by the "Stalag Luft III Former POW's" ( the real live men portrayed in the film, "The Great Escape") for their monument at Wright Patterson Air Force Base to celebrate their 50th anniversary reunion.  I worked in collaboration with the noted wildlife painter, John Ruthven, to design the eagle, depicted touching down for a landing. I had a short deadline to do the work and I spent many a twelve and fourteen hour day completing it. It was a humbling honor to have created this piece commemorating the courage and sacrifices made by those veterans of World War II.

Bronze. Unique.
