Rise to the Highest

“Rise to the Highest” is a 20 inch tall bronze sculpture created as a commission for the Leidos Corporation. It was created in honor and memory of Larry Nussdorf, who was on the board of directors at Leidos and was very instrumental in the guidance of this company. This sculpture celebrates his attributes of achievement, leadership, mentoring, and guidance. The upper figure, having attained a summit, reaches down to help a younger figure to do the same. His left arm subtly signals that there can be more to come. On his belt hangs a baseball glove, which symbolizes, specifically, Larry’s love for the game, but it also brings an air of good-natured enjoyment and reward to the activities depicted in the sculpture. There must be pleasure among life’s strivings. The “summit” or “mountain”, composed of geometric forms, represents the scientific realm, the work of Leidos.
