The University of Cincinnati commissioned me to sculpt this bas-relief of their former faculty member, Neil Armstrong, for the entrance to Rhodes Hall. The composition is inspired by a photo of him sitting in some bleachers while working on a paper airplane (he would use them in his aerodynamics classes). I set the hands on his watch to the time he stepped on the moon.
Cast stone, acrylic paint, wax.
48 x 48 x 3 inches.
