Django: Hands

This is my original bronze sculpture of the gypsy jazz guitarist, Django Reinhardt, from which I cast only the head for the simpler version.  Here, his elongated neck lends a sense of other-worldliness, and his over sized hands create a sense of monumentality and emphasize the power of his astonishing facility on the guitar, made more astonishing by the fact that two of his left-hand fingers had been uselessly crippled by fire.

Cast stone, also available in bronze.
17 x 9 x 10 inches.
